The idea was discussed during the centenary, revived by a breeder’s question and welcomed by JYRAK. The exact date of the conversation with Susanne Wehnert has not yet been established.
A day for the Birman.
A memory forever.
Blue eyes. White paws. A community worth remembering. This is the story of the Sacred Birman Breed BIS at MAGION.

More than rosettes
This page is for the cats, the people and all the little moments in between. For the anticipation, the pride at the judging table and the pleasure of sharing our love of the Sacred Birman.
Birmakredsen is a community for the Sacred Birman breed. This memory book gives the event a permanent place in our history, long after the programmes are packed away and the rosettes have gone home.
“Of course this day deserves to go down in history. My white paws do not make history every day. And someone must record who brought the Chrisco treats.”Bimse · self-appointed guest of honour and treat historian
From centenary idea to a Breed BIS on a grand scale
While Birmakredsen was celebrating 100 years of the Birman, we began asking how to bring even more people together around our breed. Could we create a day that combined a genuine cat show with a celebration of the people who love Birmans?
The idea had already been discussed within the community. When a breeder also asked about the possibility of a Breed BIS, it gave the conversation fresh momentum and prompted us to explore what was possible.
We spoke with Susanne Wehnert, chair of JYRAK, about whether the club would host a Breed BIS on a grand scale. The answer was an emphatic yes. JYRAK was willing to support it, provided enough Birmans could be brought together.
That set the plan in motion for Saturday 21 November 2026 at MAGION in Grindsted. JYRAK is responsible for the official show, while Birmakredsen is working to make it a special celebration of the breed and its community.
This account of the idea is based on Birmakredsen’s recollections. The precise dates of the initial conversations have not yet been established from archival records.
A story with traceable sources
We distinguish our account of how the idea arose from the archived centenary plans and JYRAK’s official show records.
JYRAK’s show archive confirms the venue and dates and links to the catalogue and results. No photographs are reproduced.

The anniversary was more than an idea
In Hedensted on 15 November 2025, Birmakredsen’s account described more than 30 Birmans, support from Arion and a thank-you to JYRAK’s volunteers. The experience helped inspire the ambition to celebrate the breed together again.
